Political Brands

With elections fast approaching, I felt it would be appropriate for me to dwell upon the Political Saga and the marketing efforts that emphasise on branding the behemoths of politics. It is pretty ironic that every party that contests polls badmouths the opposition and vice-versa, and at the end of the day everyone makes the same promises in order for them to de-throne the opposition and gain the prestigious political chair. Let’s just have a look at the candidates who pose as favourites contesting for the prime minister’s post and their personification as the ‘Political Brands’ of India.
  • Advani: Lalchand Kishenchand Advani who for 55 years served as a deputy to A. B. Vajpayee and the Bharatiya Samajwadi Party, is known to be the most tech-savvy politician, (as described by The Hive Advertising agency working on BJP’s campaigning) that there is in Indian political history considering the fact that he uses all the latest technological devices from mobile phones to lap tops, thereby is said to be the 'prime minister for the youth' since he closely relates to the younger generation. He, like Obama sees youth as his favourite target segment in the market of voters and hence promises the world to them.
  • Mr. Singh: Initially considered the puppet of Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, was rated as one of the best Finance Ministers that Indian politics has ever produced. However, it would take even more doing from him to make it to one among the best Prime Ministers of our nation, albeit he has come a long way in erasing the tag as Sonia’s puppet. His last brave act in signing the N-Deal lead the country into praising the ’Singh as King’, where his going against the Left party was appreciated by many as against some who were cynical about the whole N-deal fiasco.

Time can only judge as to which one of these brands will be successful with the other grumbling over wasteful efforts that went into creating a brand that lost.

i have a high respect for both the candidates i.e manmohan singh and l.k advani....but still every body has there own point of view....

before i present my view...let me give u an example...while doing my internship i got an opportunity to visit ITPL which is almost on the verge of closing...when i asked to one of the employee of the same organization he gave me 'n' number of reason of its down turn...and one of the reason was....ITPL having all the managerial post occupied by those persons who are counting there dayz for the retirement....and this causes mainly two problems i.e one there psyche is still in 1960-70's which make them reluctant towards taking risk in the form of adopting the new market strtegies...plus as they are almost on the gate way of retirement they all are thinking about scratching there own back...
...any wayz...let me come to the topic...although the second reason doesnt fall into the domain of politics...but the first one...THE PSCYCHE factor...do fall when it comes to the two political candidates from the two respective parties...wat i feel is rather than having an old aged experienced prime minister INDIA should have a middle-aged prime minister who has enough experience of politics...and this will have the following advantages:
1) he can closely relate himself to the youth of the INDIA where 70% population is below 40 yrs of age.

2)he can be more inclined to the new technical advancement feasible and helpful for indian prospective.

3)and on top...as he will be young he may have chance to become prime minister again and can continue his work wat he would have started in the first tenure...

but ofcourse the mandate of society is a major constrain ...for sure...!!!

It is a true youngster's opinion and I would want to back your view to have a top notch, middle aged, capable Prime Minister who would bring the blend of both experience and intelligence that is prominently viable to the oozing younger generation that covers the maximum bit of thr population.

A fantastic observation of the PSYCHE factor. A considerably appreciable comment.

Thank you Vipul

Cheers.
